Plea against import of GM soybean meal
 
The government should prevent the import of genetically modified (GM) soybean meal as it would harm local processors and farmers because the country does not allow the cultivation of GM food crop, said the Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) in a letter to the Union Animal Husbandry Secretary. It was also pointed out that the poultry industry’s projected demand of soybean meal is completely incorrect and unsupported by facts, as per a report.
