Manufacturing seen propelling next phase of India’s growth story

The next phase of India’s growth story has to be on the back of manufacturing, said Mr Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa and former CEO, NITI Aayog, while delivering his keynote address at a recent CII event. He pointed out that India has been growing at more than 8.3 per cent in the last three quarters and has emerged as a very resilient powerhouse during this period. India, according to IMF, will be contributing close to 20 per cent of the world’s economic expansion in the next decade. In the next five years, India will surpass Japan and Germany to emerge as the third-largest economy and also the third-largest stock market in the world, he added, as per a report.
