Steel exports up 13 pc in April 
 
Indian steel mills tapped into new overseas markets like Spain in Europe, while shipments to the Middle East more than doubled in April 2023 as finished steel exports increased by nearly 13 per cent on a year-on-year basis to 0.9 million tonnes (mt). Italy remains one of the top buyers of Indian steel at 0.21 mt, up 59 per cent. Exports in the year-ago period were 0.76 mt. Finished steel includes non-alloyed offerings, alloyed ones and stainless steel. On the other hand, China’s steel exports showed a robust 55% y-o-y increase in January-April 2023, reveals data maintained with SteelMint, as per a report.
