Wait n watch policy being adopted regarding transiting through the Red Sea

Maersk and ADNOC have reportedly decided to stay away from the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea as of now and would like to wait for some more time until safe passage through the area is ensured for the longer term, as per reports. Maersk said that it will continue to divert vessels away from the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea and toward the southern tip of Africa despite Yemen’s Houthis announcing they will curb their attacks on ships. It said that the security risk for commercial vessels transitioning the Red Sea and Bab-el-Mandeb Strait remains high and so for the safety of crew, vessels and cargo, it will continue to sail around Africa via the Cape of Good Hope. Similarly, ADNOC Logistics & Services CEO Abdulkareem Al Masabi said that Red Sea shipping remains risky despite the Gaza ceasefire and an announcement by the Houthis to limit attacks. There is a people side to it and the company cannot risk people going there while there is maybe a fragile ceasefire now, he added, the reports said.
