SCI invites bids to acquire second-hand container vessels

Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI) has reportedly called bids to buy six second-hand container ships (including, options) of various capacities and to build four platform supply vessels and one passenger high-speed craft in a local yard. The ship purchase plan includes one firm and one optional resale/second-hand (up to 15 years old) container vessel having a capacity to carry 12,000-18,000 TEUs as well as two firm and two optional resale/second-hand (up to 15 years old) container vessel with a capacity to load 1,500-2,500 TEUs. It has also floated tenders to build two firm and two optional platform supply vessels and one 150 passenger high speed craft, in which only Indian shipyards are allowed to participate, as per a report.
