JNPA reaffirms commitment to national service on Republic Day; recognises bravery
Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), India’s Best Performing Port, celebrated the 76th Republic Day on January 26, 2025 with great enthusiasm and pride at the port. Mr Unmesh Sharad Wagh, IRS, Chairman, JNPA and CMD, VPPL was the Chief Guest of the event.
The celebration commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, who hoisted the National Flag, which was followed by the National Anthem. The Chief Guest then inspected the parade, which showcased the discipline and commitment of the CISF JNPA Unit.
In his Republic Day address, Mr Wagh said: “On this Republic Day, we celebrate the strength of our democratic values, unity, and the relentless spirit of service. It is a moment to reflect on our progress, and at JNPA we are committed to contributing to India’s growth on the global stage. Recently, we had the honour of welcoming the Hon’ble Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Mr Sarbananda Sonowal, who inaugurated several transformative projects at JNPA, further strengthening our infrastructure and capacity.”
“As I mentioned during my Independence Day speech, the establishment of a new school with international standards is a significant step forward. I am pleased to share that just recently, we had the privilege of witnessing the groundbreaking ceremony of this school, conducted by the Hon’ble Minister himself. This school will serve as a beacon of education for the future, reflecting our commitment to building a better tomorrow for the next generation,” he added.
The event also included the felicitation of JNPA and CISF personnel who saved the lives of travellers on a capsized boat on December 18, 2024, highlighting their bravery and selflessness. This was followed by a thrilling dog show and rifle shooting demonstration by the CISF JNPA Unit, which enthralled the audience.
