Suez Canal further increases Electronic Services Fees

From January 1, 2025, Electronic Services Fees for all ships over GRT 300 MT transiting the Suez Canal will increase to $500, informed a Suez Canal Authority communique.

The Authority started to apply the fee in July 2020, which was raised to $300 from September 1, 2024.

The following original conditions remain in force:

* Every issued “Transit Dues” bill will be charged the aforementioned Electronic Services Fees.

* The Electronic Services

Fees will be included in every issued “Transit Dues” bill as a separate item and amount under the name of “Electronic Transit Request (ETR)”.

* The Electronic Services Fees is considered an integral part of and related to normal transit dues where it neither affects nor is affected by any surcharges or granted rebates. Hence, it will be collected in the same currency in which the vessel’s transit dues had been collected, according to the exchange rate used on transit date.

The following vessels are exempted from Electronic Services Fees:

* Vessels exempted from transit dues whatever the reason of exemption.

* Small floating units (of Suez Canal Gross Tonnage less than 300 tons, except for “Navy Ships”).
