MSC CEO-led delegation discusses key partnerships, investments with Commerce & Industry Minister, MoPSW 

A senior delegation from the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), comprising Mr Soren Toft, global CEO, Capt. Deepak Tewari, MD, MSC Agency (India) Pvt. Ltd, Mr Tarun Kalra of MSC India and others, met with key officials from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW) as well as Mr Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, here this week.
 
Mr Goyal, in a communique, described the meeting as productive, which discussed the vast growth potential in India’s shipping & logistics sector, focusing on investments in inland container terminals, shipbuilding, maintenance, and container manufacturing.
 
Also deliberated on deep-sea vessel partnerships and policy reforms to enhance the nation’s global maritime competitiveness while fostering growth, innovation and self-reliance in the sector, he said.
 
MoPSW expressed that the meeting was fruitful, led by Joint Secretary Mr R. Lakshmanan, IAS, in which the discussions revolved around potential collaboration in shipbuilding, shipbreaking and cruise shipping, amongst other maritime aspects.
