Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port and MSC partner to launch ‘Haldia Shuttle’ service linking Haldia Dock Complex and Vizhinjam
Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata has partnered with MSC to launch the ‘Haldia Shuttle,’ linking Haldia Dock Complex to Vizhinjam, India’s leading container transhipment hub operated by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. Fostering ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, it facilitates EXIM container transhipment on Indian soil, highlighted a port communique.
The service rotation is VJH-CMB-CCU-PRT-VJH, informed the communique.
The service, which will operate every ten days, is the first feeder service to be introduced between an Indian gateway port and the Vizhinjam transhipment terminal. On its way to Vizhinjam, the Haldia Shuttle service will also stop at Paradip Port, it is learnt.
Salient features
* Dedicated vessels for efficient cargo movement: With the introduction of additional dedicated vessels, shippers are encouraged to move cargo independently from Kolkata to Vizhinjam for direct connectivity.
* Paradip service enhancement: Any one Kolkata vessel will dip Paradip to top up, with an expected call every 10 days, improving service frequency and capacity.
* New connectivity from/to Southeast India to Vizhinjam: Enhanced connectivity between Southeast India and Vizhinjam, improving access and streamlining trade routes.
