India, Africa trade $200 bn  by 2030, says Barthwal

India and Africa’s bilateral trade reached $100 billion in 2022, with a target to double this figure to $200 billion by 2030, said Mr Sunil Barthwal, Commerce Secretary, while speaking at the Confederation of Indian Industry’s India-Africa Business Conclave in New Delhi. He highlighted that the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) has pinpointed four key sectors — automobiles, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and logistics — as having substantial potential for collaboration. India firmly believes that these sectors have huge potential for collaboration in terms of investment, trade, technology and capacity building between Africa and India, he added, as per a report.
