Proposed Krishnapatnam Industrial Area to become a hub of excellence and innovation

The Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi last week laid the foundation stone of the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area (KRIS City) in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh, through a virtual ceremony held in Vizag. This step marks a significant milestone in India’s journey towards ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, said a release.
 
Developed under the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor and the framework of PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, KRIS City is expected to become a hub of industrial excellence and innovation.
 
With state-of-the-art infrastructure, plug-and-play industrial facilities and sustainable smart city features, KRIS City will attract global and domestic investments while ensuring seamless multimodal connectivity through Krishnapatnam Port, NH-16, Tirupati Airport and major railway links.
 
KRIS City, a flagship project under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme, is envisioned as a greenfield industrial smart city. It is expected to attract significant manufacturing investments of approximately Rs 10,500 crore and is also projected to create around 1 lakh direct and indirect jobs, significantly enhancing livelihoods and driving regional progress.
 
The Prime Minister hailed it as a model for sustainable development, integrating economic growth with environmental stewardship and social equity, as per a release.
