Major Ports’ cargo handling up 4.34 pc in FY25
 
Cargo handled by the state-owned Major Ports increased by 4.34% in 2024-25 to 854.858 metric tonnes (mt) from 819.294 mt in FY24 on the back of strong growth in containers, finished fertiliser and other miscellaneous cargo, according to the Indian Ports Association. The dozen Major Ports handled a combined 13.541 million TEUs in FY25, from 12.310 million TEUs in FY24, clocking a growth of 10%. Of this, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority handled 7.302 million TEUs. Other miscellaneous cargo handled by Major Ports rose 30.59% in FY25 to 117.732 mt from 90.156 mt a year earlier. Deendayal Port Authority was the only port to show double-digit growth among the Major Ports, handling 150.157 mt from 132.374 mt, up 13.43%, as per a report.
