Union Cabinet approves Merchant Shipping Bill 2024

The Union Cabinet has approved the Merchant Shipping Bill 2024. 
 
The Bill aims to reduce compliance burden, boost tonnage, enhance seafarer welfare, maritime safety, prevent marine pollution, implement India’s international obligations, promote transparency and ease of doing business, highlighted a communique by the Directorate General of Shipping.
