SLPA reaffirms commitment to Adani’s Colombo terminal project
The Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) has reaffirmed its support for the Colombo West International Terminal project led by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone. SLPA Chairman Admiral Sirimewan Ranasinghe (Retd) emphasised that there are no plans to review or terminate the $1 billion agreement, marking it as the largest foreign direct investment in Sri Lanka’s port sector. This followed the US allegations, which the Adani Group has strongly denied. Abu Dhabi’s International Holding Company (IHC), a key backer of Adani, reiterated its confidence in the Group, stating that it remains optimistic about these initiatives. Tanzania also reaffirmed its 30-year concession deal with Adani Ports for operating Container Terminal 2 at Dar es Salaam Port, as per a report.
