BMCT’s Phase II to commence operations on 1,000 m wharf later this month
By April 15, 2025, PSA Mumbai will commence full-scale operations on the 1,000 m wharf of BMCT’s Phase II (at JN Port), as per a PSA India communique.
PSA Mumbai is moving ahead to attain this goal, with major milestones unlocked in Phase 2:
*Capital dredging, 1,000 m wharf & 110 Ha reclamation completed
* First 400 m (Berth-04) operational with 2 new quay cranes (Feb. 5, 2025)
* Rail depot upgraded to handle DFC trains with six 1,500 m tracks
* 20/25MVA substation fully energised
The final pieces—container yards, gate complex and access road enhancements—are coming together for yet another milestone this month at JN Port in its over three and a half decades of service to the trade.
The total capacity of BMCT’s Phase II will be 2.4 million TEUs, to add to Phase I having the same capacity. The terminal will have a total quay length of 2,000 m when completed.
