Saudi Ports Authority developing new logistics parks
The Saudi Ports Authority ‘Mawani’ and CMA CGM have launched a new logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port, with a total area exceeding 130,000 square meters, and investment value nearing 487 million riyals, over the project’s timeframe.
The President of the Saudi Ports Authority ‘Mawani’, Mr Omar Hariri, said that the new logistics park supports the development of a sustainable and prosperous maritime transport system, achieving the Kingdom’s economic and social aspirations in line with Vision 2030, reflecting ‘Mawani’s continuous pursuit to achieve the goals of the national strategy for transport and logistics services; to establish specialised logistics parks inside and outside the ports, reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics centre and a hub connecting three continents, and raising the Kingdom’s ranking in international indicators.
The new logistics park offers unique solutions and integrated environmental services and systems including an export centre, storage and sorting services, smart warehouses, refrigerated storage services, in addition to multimodal transport services; to meet the needs of beneficiaries, contributing to the provision of a unified logistics system that benefits from the CMA CGM Group’s vast network with internal CCIS solutions, and CEVA Logistics services, to provide customers with integrated and seamless logistics solutions from start to finish.
Saudi Ports Authority also signed a contract to establish another logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port, with a total area of 54,000 square meters, to enhance sea and air connectivity, which will contribute in improving the logistics services provided, aiming to raise the Kingdom’s ranking in international indicators.
This logistics park will contribute to raising the Kingdom’s ranking in international indicators, and utilising the Kingdom’s strategic location to connect regional and global markets, and benefit from the integration and interconnection between sea and air transport, in enhancing the Kingdom’s leading position, supporting the global economic movement, and upgrading the standards of logistics services in the Kingdom, in addition to making Jeddah Islamic Port among the top 10 ports globally, stressed a release.
