Varamar and COSCO Shipping’s ASL Shipping & Logistics enter into strategic commercial partnership

Varamar, a shipping company involved in the transportation of breakbulk, dry bulk, oversized and containerised cargo, has entered into a strategic commercial partnership with ASL Shipping & Logistics, a COSCO Shipping Group company.

As per reports, the aim of the partnership is to help both companies to strengthen their respective trades. Besides helping each other gain market share, the two entities will promote each partner’s schedules, cooperate with joint marketing initiatives, establish a process for sharing information on open tonnage, and support each other on adjacent trades.

Varamar mainly operates in the 3,000-30,000 DWT tonnage size, while COSCO Shipping operates a larger fleet of bulk, multipurpose and semi-submersible vessels in the 28,000-60,000 DWT range.

For over a decade, Varamar has especially developed transport solutions for dismantled plants, factories, wind turbines, bridges, vehicles and even stadiums. The company has developed its own methods based on in-house competences and provides a strong set-up for worldwide shipments, it was highlighted.

The COSCO and Varamar fleets and schedules will be represented on the Shipnext shipping platform. Head representative Kaptan Singh (Malik) will now create teams for the partnership, along with Niraj Mehta, Managing Director of Varamar DMCC and Andy Zhuang, Managing Director of Varamar Shanghai.

According to Mr Zhuang, both entities have different areas of operation and trade targets, so this agreement plays to the strengths of each partner. “We look forward to working together to strengthen the commercial and chartering activities of both COSCO and Varamar,” he added.
