Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port has adopted  multi-pronged development strategy: Chairman

Mr Rathendra Raman, the newly appointed Chairman of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), addressing his maiden news conference here on Wednesday, highlighted that the earliest and only riverine Major Port of India, which has been serving the nation for 153 years, has constantly reinvented itself through opportunities and challenges, finding newer domains and service strategies to cater to its diverse clientele. It is today flourishing as one of the key Major Ports of the country, the Gateway to Eastern India, he emphasised, as per a release.

For its seamless development in future, the port has adopted a multi-pronged development strategy in line with MIV 2030, which encompasses:

* Capacity augmentation primarily through PPP projects

* Logistical development for ensuring state-of-the-art connectivity

* Ensuring EoDB through robust use of IT

* Collaboration with other agencies for seamless flow of upstream and downstream supply chain activities

* Financial management for effective resource management and cost reduction
