Record handling of steel coils in a single day at Chennai Port

Chennai Port handled a record import of 14,993 tonnes of steel coil on a single day from the vessel m.v. Lucky Source at WQ III on January 31, 2023, surpassing the previous highest unloading of 13,879 tonnes from m.v. Phoenix Nereid on March 13, 2022. 
 
Mr Sunil Paliwal, IAS, Chairperson, Chennai Port Authority, appreciated the synergy shown by the vessel agent Parekh Marine Services, stevedore Seabridge Stevedores, all the importers involved as well as the port officials in achieving this record, said a release.
