Rice exporters challenge curbs

The Centre’s curbs on rice export have been challenged by exporters in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, it is learnt, with a bench issuing  notices to the Ministry of Finance’s Revenue Department and Visakhapatnam Customs who have been asked to file their responses by November 15. The petitioners argued that their rice consignment meant for exports reached Visakhapatnam Port much before the Centre issued a notification imposing a 20 per cent duty on key varieties, and that loading had commenced, as per a report.
