‘The policy directs all players to collaborate to eliminate pockets of waste & inefficiency’

—Jakob Friis Sorensen, Managing Director, APM Terminals Pipavav

“The National Logistics Policy paves the way for infrastructure & service revolution in India as the country charts growth trajectory for the next few decades. It aims to strengthen the pillars of the logistics sector like infrastructure, digital and technological capabilities coupled with the human capital. The policy directs all players to collaborate to eliminate pockets of waste and inefficiency. The policy is aimed at realising the government’s vision of making seamless connectivity & transportation and clearly reducing the logistics cost to single digit. It also addresses critical factors like standardisation, digital adoption, last mile connectivity and improved regulatory interface that is aimed at innovative and sustainable growth of the sector. I wish that the policy leads to much awaited multimodal logistics development, thereby decongesting the roads by moving the cargoes on environment-friendly and economic mode of transportation - rail and waterways.”
