Govt slaps anti-dumping duty on Chinese aluminium foil imports
 
The Finance Ministry has imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty ranging from $619 to $873 per metric tonne (MT) on aluminium foil imports from China. A gazette notification dated March 17 said the duty would apply to aluminium foil up to 80 microns, excluding foil below 5.5 microns for non-capacitor applications. DGTR’s preliminary findings had established dumping and material injury to the domestic industry. The notification identifies explicitly different rates for sampled producers, non-sampled cooperative producers and other exporters. The provisional duties will remain effective for six months from publication unless revoked earlier, with several specific product exclusions detailed in the notification, as per a report.
