Red Sea showing signs of stability: Suez Canal Authority

There are signs of stability returning to the Red Sea, which should be taken into account when planning sea routes, said Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie during a meeting with the CEO of AP Moller-Maersk and other senior executives, it has been reported. He said that the positive indicators observed in the Red Sea region should be taken into account when planning maritime schedules in the coming period. Several major global shipping companies had suspended Red Sea voyages and rerouted vessels around southern Africa to avoid potential attacks from Yemen’s Houthis. Last week, Maersk had said it would continue to divert vessels away from the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea towards the southern tip of Africa despite the Houthis announcing they would curb their attacks on ships, as per the reports.
