PSA Mumbai brings in advanced container handling equipment for Phase 2
PSA Mumbai, at JN Port, recently celebrated the arrival of advanced container handling equipment for Phase 2! The shipment featured two Super Post-Panamax Rail Mounted Quay Cranes (RMQC) and six energy-efficient e-Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) Cranes.
Set to be operational by Q1 2025, Phase 2 will elevate PSA Mumbai to become India’s largest standalone container terminal—enhancing its capacity to support the region’s growing demand for cargo handling, highlighted a release.
Key highlights
* Super Post-Panamax RMQCs – Designed for high productivity and efficient large vessel handling.
* e-RTGs – Eco-friendly cranes, optimising yard operations with a smaller carbon footprint.
The expansion will also introduce 1 km of quay and the capability to handle 2.4 million TEUs annually, reinforcing PSA Mumbai’s role as a vital hub in India’s EXIM trade network, the release emphasised.
