Negotiations inconclusive at Gangavaram port
Negotiations between striking employees and the port authorities at Gangavaram port last week remained inconclusive and the strike continues, at the time of going to press.
Protesters have stopped movement of manpower and materials, including raw material supplies to critical power and steel units, and insist that all their demands be first met. This deadlock has persisted for a month now.
The disruption at the port has halted coal transfers, leaving over 314,000 tonnes stranded and significant slashing of production capacity at plants, as per a report.
