GTI welcomes maiden call of ME2 India-Mediterranean service
Gateway Terminals India (GTI-APM Terminals Mumbai, JN Port) has welcomed the maiden call of the ME2 (India-Mediterranean) service. The ME2 service, operated by Maersk, is a premium service for export of grapes from India to the European markets. The service connects India West coast ports (Mundra & JNPA) to hub terminals of Algeciras and Port Tangiers Med in Europe via Salalah and Port Said East.

The first vessel on the service, the 10,000-TEU capacity Maersk Gautemala, berthed at GTI on February 9, 2024 to perform about 2,500 moves comprising mostly export cargoes.

With the commissioning of larger reach cranes and the new extended bridge, GTI has upgraded its infrastructure under the fit-for-future project to accommodate larger vessels. The ME2 service induction at GTI was possible due to these enhanced capabilities, said a release.
