Non-major ports’ cargo handling soars by 15 pc in Gujarat 

Cargo handled by the non-major ports in Gujarat rose by 15 per cent during the first quarter of the financial year 2025, it is learnt. Traffic  increased from approximately 106 million metric tons (MMT) in the first quarter of FY24 to an impressive 122 MMT in the same period of FY25. Private ports and captive jetties emerged as the primary contributors, handling over 90 per cent of the total cargo at Gujarat’s non-major ports, reports said. In the period April-June 2023, private facilities, including ports and captive jetties, handled 97 MMT of the total 105.7 MMT. This rose to 114.4 MMT of 122 MMT during the same period in 2024, as per the reports.
