Phonex Group commences services from Kolkata to Haldia & Kolkata to Birgunj ICD in association with CWC

Phonex Group has announced the commencement of its services from Kolkata to Haldia and Kolkata to Birgunj ICD (Nepal) in association with Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC). This initiative marks the beginning of an important chapter in logistics, enhancing connectivity and trade efficiency between these key locations.
 
This service is facilitated by the first BLSS container rake owned by CWC, symbolising a milestone in the Corporation’s journey. The collaboration between Phonex Group and CWC is set to boost trade volumes and provide seamless logistics solutions, emphasised a release.
 
“We are thrilled to start this service, which will significantly benefit the trade community by providing efficient and reliable logistics solutions,” said Mr Gulam Ashraf, Managing Director of Phonex Group. “Our association with CWC and the deployment of the BLSS container rake will enhance the movement of goods and foster better trade relations.”
 
Mr Amit Kumar Singh, IRTS, Managing Director of CWC, praised the support from the government, stating, “Government support has been crucial in achieving this milestone. It reflects our commitment to improving logistics infrastructure”. He further commended the efforts of all stakeholders involved.
 
The Chairman of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Mr Rathendra Raman, IRTS, invited businesses to use Kolkata and Haldia ports for Nepal movement, offering concessions and signing of a MoU with CWC to facilitate trade in every possible way. He praised Phonex Group for contributing to this milestone by CWC and thanked Mr Amit Kumar Singh for his visionary leadership in making it happen. Together, they aim to increase trade volumes.

Mr Ashraf is known for his dynamic leadership and remarkable contributions, including the upcoming GCT Terminal and Nepal container transport under ECTS regulations.
 
Phonex Logistics Pvt. Ltd has been approved as an authorised carrier to Nepal under ECTS regulations 2019, further strengthening its role in facilitating cross-border trade, the release added.
