Vizhinjam International Seaport berths over 24,000 TEU capacity vessel, the largest ever in South Asia!

The MSC Claude Girardet has made history as the largest cargo ship ever to arrive in South Asia, docking at APSEZ’s Vizhinjam International Seaport in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

The ultra-large container vessel, with a capacity of 24,116 containers, was carrying 20,425 TEUs, marking the highest TEUs any vessel has brought to not just India but the entire South Asia region.

The vessel is 399.99 metres in length, 61.5 metres in width and has a depth of 16.6 metres.

This monumental arrival highlights the capabilities of India's first deep draft container transhipment seaport, which is fully equipped to handle mega container ships crucial for international cargo transportation, emphasised a release.
