Cotton exports surge 68 pc

India’s cotton exports increased substantially reaching a 68% increase by June end, from 15.5 lakh last year to around 26 lakh bales this year. This significant rise was driven by higher demand from Bangladesh, China and Vietnam. Improved quality and competitive pricing contributed to this growth. The Cotton Association of India (CAI) expects exports to reach 30 lakh bales by the season’s end. Domestic consumption remains at an all-time high, which helps leverage prices for cotton farmers. The rise in exports demonstrates a positive trend for the sector, showing an increased ability to manage and meet both international and local demand, highlighted a report.
