PPT again achieves 100 MMT mark in cargo handling


Paradip Port Trust (PPT) has achieved the handling of 100 Million Metric Tonnes (MMT) of cargo for the fourth year in row. Despite the Covid-19 crisis and two of its existing berths not being available due to mechanisation, the port once again repeated the feat by crossing the throughput mark in succession and achieved a figure of 100.30 MMT till 21.02.2021 in the current fiscal, informed a release. 


Mr Vinit Kumar, Chairman, PPT, congratulated the user industries, stevedores, steamer agents, and trade unions on this achievement and thanked them for their continued faith in the ability of the port to serve them.  He also congratulated the employees and officers of the port for their continued commitment to serve the trade, besides appreciating the support of government authorities like the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (GoI), Govt. of Odisha, Indian Railways, Customs, Immigration Department, Dock Safety, MMD as well as all service providers/terminal operators for their sustained effort in achieving this feat, the release added.
