Manufacturing activity in July-Sept. quarter seen improving significantly
Survey also shows gain in exports in Q2


The outlook for increased manufacturing activity in the July-September quarter of the current fiscal is expected to improve significantly, according to a survey by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). The percentage of respondents reporting higher production in the second quarter of 2021-22 was much above the 50 per cent mark, at around 61 per cent. The percentage of respondents expecting low or same production was 39 per cent for Q2 of 2021-22, said a release. 


The overall capacity utilisation in manufacturing was 72 per cent in the quarter ending September, which is an indication of recovery in manufacturing. The exports outlook was seen to be improving, with around 58 per cent of the participants expecting a rise in their outbound shipments during the second quarter, as per a report.
