Countervailing duty may be imposed on certain steel products from China, Vietnam


After the DGTR, the Commerce Ministry’s investigation arm, concluded its probe and recommended to impose duty on ‘welded stainless steel pipes and tubes’, the government may impose countervailing duty on certain kinds of steel pipes and tubes from China and Vietnam for five years, a move to guard domestic players from cheap imports. The recommended duty was in the range of 29.88 per cent and 10.33 per cent, said a report.
