PICT actively involved in multiple CSR activities


The J. M. Baxi Group’s Paradip International Cargo Terminal (PICT), at Paradip Port in Odisha, is actively involved in a number of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities that are benefiting the people of the area.


Development & maintenance of Ambedkar Park


Ambedkar Park has been developed and maintained by PICT. A contractor is engaged for this job. A security agency has engaged guards for security of the park round-the-clock.


Donation of life-saving ambulance to PPT Hospital


A life-saving ambulance has been donated to the PPT Hospital. A TATA Winger with all life-saving equipment, costing Rs 24 lakh, is in operation for the welfare of the people of Paradip.


Distribution of food items, fruits in orphanage, old age home and to the physically handicapped


PICT has distributed dry food items, fruits and some grocery items in the following places:


* Maa Santoshi Jarasharama (old age home), Atharbanki, Paradip: 40 senior citizens stay here.


* Sri Loknath Sikshyasharama (orphanage), Paradip Garh, Paradip: Has 50 children from one to 10 years old.


* Nivedita Ashram (orphanage and old age home), Kendrapara, Odisha: 100 orphans and 50 old people stay here.


* Kalinga Institute of Social Service (mentally handicapped rehabilitation centre), Nuabazar, Paradip: 25 handicapped people are fed and taken care of here.


Blood donation camp


PICT organised a blood donation camp in November last year in collaboration with Rotary Club of Paradip inside its premises. Doctors and medical staff of Red Cross Society extended full support for this CSR initiative which saw 78 people donate blood.


World AIDS Day


As a part of its CSR initiative, PICT, in association with PPT, observed World AIDS Day in December last year by organising a rally of 300 people. CMO PPT Hospital, IIC Paradip and others officials of PPT Hospital and PICT were present on the occasion.


At the end of the programme, Ms Subhalaxmi Roy (wife of the Chairman of PPT) addressed and thanked the gathering for organising this AIDS awareness camp.


Donation of air-conditioners


PICT donated two 2-tonne air-conditioners to Aahar Kendra at Atharbanki, Paradip.


The Chief Minister of Odisha, Mr Naveen Patnaik, also announced that subsidised meals will be available at Aahar Kendra in the night too.


The Additional Superintendent of Police-Paradip inaugurated the Aahar Kendra, with the Chairman and Executive Officer, Paradip Municipality, gracing the occasion, said a communiqué.
