New feeder service commences connecting Mundra, New Mangalore & Cochin

 

The continuous efforts of the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) authorities to provide the best of services to customers has again yielded result with TCI Seaways starting a new feeder vessel operation connecting Mundra, New Mangalore and Cochin ports through a weekly service. The Indian flagged vessel TCI EXPRESS, loaded with containers, made its maiden voyage from Mundra Port to NMPT on July 7, 2018 and sailed to Cochin Port the same day.

 

The vessel unloaded 52 containers and picked up 5 export boxes from New Mangalore Port. Launched in 1997, the 26,000 DWT vessel has capacity to carry 800 TEUs.

 

TCI Seaways presently operates feeder vessels on the east and west coasts of India connecting various ports. Sri Ganesh Shipping Agency is the C&F agent that books containerised cargo to various destinations. Captain Khanejo, CEO, TCI Seaways, Mr B. Nagaraja Shetty, Managing Partner, Sri Ganesh Shipping Agency, the Traffic Manager and Senior Deputy Traffic Manager, NMPT were present on the occasion.

 

NMPT is witnessing steady growth in container traffic during the past few years due to the proactive initiatives of the port management coupled with infrastructure augmentation. During the last fiscal 2017-18, the port achieved record container traffic of 1.15 lakh TEUs, registering a growth of 23 per cent. The trend continues and the port is expected to register further growth in the current financial year, said a release.
