APL again recognised as ‘Best Shipping Line in the Trans-Pacific’

APL has once again been named the "Best Shipping Line in the Trans-Pacific" at the 2018 Asian Freight, Logistics and Supply Chain Awards on May 15, 2018 in Shanghai, its second win in two years.

APL Chief Trade Officer, Mr Calvin Leong, said, "We are proud to receive this prestigious Award for the second year running. This for us symbolises a clear vote of confidence in APL from our stakeholders and, in particular, our customers who entrust APL with their critical shipments. We commit to build upon this by delivering on our commitments, improving the APL service experience and continuing to introduce pioneering ocean solutions tailored to fulfilling their most pressing needs."

APL’s Asia-North America volume grew 22 per cent to 1.83 million TEUs, compared to 2016, accounting for 35 per cent of APL’s global volumes in 2017, highlighted a release.

Last year, APL transitioned into the OCEAN ALLIANCE, launching 18 new services connecting Asia to the US East Coast and West Coast. Differentiating APL outside the OCEAN ALLIANCE, the carrier carved a new market in Hawaii with Aloha Express Service while its suite of Eagle Guaranteed Services promised shippers their desired predictability for a competitive advantage.

This July, APL will inject x-factor in its Trans-Pacific service portfolio with the new Eagle Express X (EXX) service. Designed as a solution that is between ocean and air freight, the weekly EXX service will offer an expeditious 11-day transit from Shanghai to Los Angeles. Shippers with time-sensitive cargoes can expect a hassle-free customer experience, certainty of equipment and space at direct Asian load ports; swift cargo discharge with next day availability at an off-dock facility and guaranteed chassis in Los Angeles through the service.

These developments are set to further bolster APL’s well-diversified Trans-Pacific service network as it operates as part of the leading OCEAN ALLIANCE and through seven services outside the OCEAN ALLIANCE, the release added.
