The DP World-operated Nhava Sheva (India) Gateway Terminal (NSIGT), at JN Port, has celebrated the commencement of the INDAMEX (India America Express) service operated by a consortium of four vessel operators—CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd, NYK and OOCL. This weekly service connects Nhava Sheva to the United States of America.

The weekly service commenced operations at NSIGT effective March 11, 2018. It deploys more than 6,000-TEU capacity vessels with the following port rotation: Port Qasim - Nhava Sheva - Mundra- Damietta - New York - Norfolk - Savannah - Charleston - Port Said - Jeddah - Port Qasim. This service will be gradually upsizing its tonnage deployment and bringing in bigger vessels, said a release.

Capt. Ravinder Johal, Chief Executive Officer, DP World Nhava Sheva, said, "At DP World, we believe in providing efficient and reliable flow of goods and resources through high productivity. Our terminal, NSIGT, is equipped with advanced technology, which provides safe, quick and efficient operations for large-size vessels and facilitates ease of doing business. It is our constant endeavour to maintain a fast turnaround of our customers’ cargo and persistently offer the best services in the supply chain."

NSIGT holds the feat of hosting the largest containership to have called at Indian shores. The terminal has several innovations to its credit and is a model for future port development in India. These include Automated Gates - powered by Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology, the futuristic Reefer Monitoring System and remote-operated quay cranes, and the revolutionary Electrical Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes (E-RTGs), amongst others. These innovative trade solutions have helped facilitate ease of doing business and increased the efficiency of cargo handling at JNPT, India’s largest container gateway, the release stressed.
