Onion exports show significant rise

There was a doubling of onion exports in H1 2016-17 (April-September 2016) to 946,603 tonnes from 488,446 tonnes in the same period of the previous fiscal, according to Apeda.

The ending of the minimum export price and bringing the bulb into the Merchandise Exports from India Scheme (MEIS) were some of the contributing factors, reports said.
