Mr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister
of State for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, and Chemicals and
Fertilisers, inaugurated the stall of Kandla Port’s Smart Industrial Port City
(SIPC) at Stall No. 6, Vibrant Gujarat Investors’ Summit 2017 exhibition, on
Tuesday, January 10, 2017.
Mr Ravi Parmar, IAS, Chairman of
Kandla Port Trust (KPT), gave a presentation on the project and apprised the
Minister about its development. He highlighted various components of the
project, the investments thereof, and direct and indirect generation of
employment opportunities. The Minister appreciated the efforts taken by the
Chairman, Deputy Chairman and the KPT team, and congratulated them, informed a

first Smart Industrial Port Cities, SIPC Kandla envisions becoming a gold
standard for smart port cities in India. SIPC Kandla is spread over 1,430 acres
and is located in close proximity to Kandla Port. It is committed to help
industries and the local economy grow by providing better infrastructure
facilities along with a supportive environment to thrive in. It also aims for
seamless integration of development with current and future city plans, which
will drive the government’s agenda to promote coastal and port-based economic
zones, says a profile.
Kandla Port is the first Major Port
to handle 100 million tonnes of cargo throughput.
Mr Ravi Parmar, Mr Alok Singh, IRS,
Deputy Chairman, Mr Mavjibhai Sorathia and Mr Mohan Aswani, Trustees, and other
senior Port officials were present on the occasion, the release said.
